I go to a few blogs on the daily to get my dose of gossip and see what people are discussing. Sites like sandrarose.blogspot.com (thank you for the shout out today), stylerazzi.blogspot.com, crunktastical.blogspot.com, tmz.com, and ybf.blogspot.com. All of these sites offer something interesting and original despite sometimes talking about the same subjects. In the high speed world of gossip and entertainment news, he who says it first may not always say it best.
I noticed today that one of the sites I visit, ybf, appears to have been bought out by Vibe. Why? Have you ever read a Vibe magazine? Avid readers of Vibe know that in order to get to the table of contents, you practically have to cut the first quarter of the issue off and begin around page 120. Well the virtual equivalent of Vibe is now ybf's new page. When entering the page, you will be greeted by a big blank space; a white light pulling you into clicking advertisements. I'm surprised she doesn't have Tragina's voice from Poltergeist playing in the background, "go to the light Caroline."
I've known quite a few bloggers that have taken their blogs from Myspace and blogger.com to go on and form their own sites. When you do that, you are telling people that you are now above the frey and that your site is the place to be on. Well bloggers of the world, make sure you aren't recruiting your 3 year old cousin who just took a web design class at Best Buy to design and plan your page launch. We read your blogs because we like to be entertained, not bombarded with ads and pictures you stole from other pages. Step your game up. When you launch your own site, your readers expect an AMG S-Class not a C-Class with a Kompressor.
Gossip, humor, news, and chat about your world from the other side of the pond. The clean side.

Is this your subtle way of letting the world know that you will soon be above the frey and taking your wisdom elsewhere?... And in the same blog, letting us know that you will not be that guy, and remain "commercial free"? S-Class babay...lol...
Lol, ads pay the bills. A lot of full time bloggers are making serious bank yet they seem to lose their creativity when the dollars start raining in.
AMG S65 Euro edition baby. Autobahn here I come.
Spent three years in Germany on the Autobahn... it will ruin you when you get back to the states... 2 tickets over a hundred mph in the last 2 years... And lost creativity is not something I would ever fear with you... creativity is your key to life...mixed with a little wisdom and curiosity...
Couldn't agree more. but isn't it like the music business or any other professionalism in the world. The best music, atheletes, and workers, are those who do it from their heart and because they enjoy doing it. When money is brought into the picture, it seems to take away the heart for most part. Notice the difference in athletes once they sign their big contracts, seems like heart is taken away from the game bc hey, they will be paid anyways. If you can slide on by without much effort, some people will. Don't think you will bc that's just not your style...My bad for blog hogging just felt like sharing my thoughts...:-)
You are so right AB. I love how they give these athletes huge contracts and signing bonuses when they make pro and then expect them to be as hungry as they were when they were in college. If only the fans would understand that pro sports is basically just rich people trying to one up each other and have bragging rights.
No blog hogging at all. I love longer comments.
I don't know, I like the way it looks. The design is could be better, lol, but in general its a lot cleaner - you have to admit that. It used to be madd confusing and long to go through all of that stuff on the old blogger page.
The Google ads I don't mind. The ones on Concrete Loop and C&D (where right near the beginning when you visit it fades into some ad where you have to click "Go back to ___") is hella annoying.
@ the floacist
thank you for the comment. Welcome.
Youa re right. When I went home I saw the site in better quality. Someone tipped me that you have to have Internet Explorer 7 to view it better. I guess the lesson for new blog sites is to realize that most of your readers will be reading from work and thus they may not have the latest flash or explorer. Like my history teacher said, keep it simple stupid.
(not to call anyone stupid)
I think its a nice site. It's good to see someone step off and branch out. All I am saying is that you need to remember why your readers go to your page.
Most people do visit blogs at work to break the monotony of their day and get a few laughs. Making it difficult to navigate for the majority isnt a good business move. When you spend your day talking ish about everyone else, you have to make sure your own ish is FLAWLESS. Also when the majority of the people that comment HATE your site, that should serve as an immediate red flag. Only about 5 percent of the total visitors take the time to comment so when 85% percent of those people hate it imagine how the majority feels -StyleRazzi
